Getting Started

How long does it take to set up Magister?
Magister deploys via Docker Compose in under 5 minutes. For managed SaaS, you get access immediately. Self-hosted deployments include a guided onboarding session with our team to configure connectors and data sources for your environment.
Do I need Java or streaming expertise to use the platform?
No. The visual pipeline builder and Magister AI Assistant handles the complexity. You design workflows by dragging nodes and connecting them, or describe what you want in natural language. Magister compiles everything to distributed in-memory pipelines under the hood.
Can I use my own AI models?
Yes. Magister supports OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, and Ollama (for local/on-prem models) out of the box. AI nodes let you configure model, temperature, and prompt at the node level, so you can mix providers within a single pipeline.
Where does my data stay?
With self-hosted and air-gapped deployments, your data never leaves your infrastructure. All processing happens inside your cluster. For managed SaaS, data is processed in your dedicated tenant environment with no cross-tenant access.
What data sources can Magister connect to?
Kafka, file systems (CSV, JSON), IMaps, and HTTP endpoints are supported out of the box. The Camel connector catalog provides additional integrations. Custom sources can be added via the SourceBuilder node pattern.
